General Rules for 10v10 Thursday Men’s Leagues
– Team roster consists of 20 players maximum – Only rostered players are allowed to play
- Once a player plays once they’re added into the roster – rostered players cannot be changed for other players
- If you have a full roster you can add an extra roster spot for $25
- No drop-ins allowed
- No more adding players once playoffs start
– 10 players on the field per side including the goalkeeper (9 field players + 1 goalkeeper)
– Minimum number of players to start the match is 5. If you don’t have enough players to start the match at 8:05 or 9:05 PM, that team forfeits
– Only the Captain can talk to the referee
-Forfeits will result in 3-0 loss for the team that forfeited
– Two 25 minute halves with 2/3 minute half-time break. No injury time and no overtime. Once the buzzer on the sidelines ends it will be last play on the field.
- For League Games the time will start running right at 8:05 PM and 9:05 PM
- Play off games will have to start at 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM, be 20 minutes long, and/or cut halftime length to have enough time for penalties
— Each team plays each other twice, one time as home and one time as away
– General FIFA Goalkeeper rules. Dropkicks allowed.
– Players must be wearing the same colored jerseys – Socks and shorts don’t have to match
– Long socks and Shin guards are optional but they are recommended
– No offside rule
– If the ball goes out of bounds through the sidelines we use throw-ins to restart play
– Notify the referee if you want to make a substitution and substitutions are only allowed when the ball is stopped not during gameplay. All players going into the field have to go in through the middle to avoid confusion.
– The ball may travel forward or backward on the kick-off
– Indirect free kicks and direct free kick may be awarded for fouls depending on the scenario
– Penalty kicks for fouls inside of the penalty area
– Slide tackles are not allowed at all – they can lead to injuries, and we all have to go to work the next day!
- If a player attempts a slide tackle outside the penalty box, it results in an indirect (no contact) or direct free kick (contact) for the opposing team depending on the slide.
- If a player attempts a slide (without contact) inside the penalty box, it results in an indirect free kick. Example if there is no one around, but a player slides.
- If a player slides and there is contact that stops the play inside the penalty box, it results in a penalty kick and a yellow or red card depending on the severity of the slide.
– Yellow cards and red cards are given for disciplinary actions.
– For a yellow card: Player with the yellow card will sit out for 3 minutes and a new player cannot come in until the time is up, or if their team gets scored on during that time they can go back in
– Red card results in leaving the game, missing the next game, and paying a fine depending on the red card.
– Players must take off their earrings and watches, before playing, necklace is okay.
— Besides the specific rules above, everything else will be FIFA rules
– Games are played in the rain or sunshine! Games will only be canceled if the city says its dangerous to play outside and they close the fields (such as during a thunderstorm)
– Fighting will not be tolerated – any players of a team that gets into a fight might be disqualified from the league (and future leagues) and / or will need to pay a fine, depending on the situation. If a team is kicked out for fighting, there are no refunds.
-Tie breaker for playoff spots: Goal difference (best), head-to-head score, goals for (highest), goals against (lowest), coin (if absolutely necessary)
– Top 4 teams make it to final playoff day (1st vs 2nd and 3rd vs 4th): Tie breaker for playoff games if tie = 3 penalty kicks each team
