Bay Area Champions Pickup Soccer Waiver & Terms

By registering for and participating in any Bay Area Champions Community Pickup Game (“Pickup Games”), you acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions.

1. Assumption of Risk

I understand that participation in pickup soccer involves inherent risks, including but not limited to physical contact, collisions, uneven playing surfaces, weather conditions, and actions of other participants. These risks may result in injury, serious bodily harm, permanent disability, or death.

I voluntarily and knowingly assume all such risks associated with participating in Bay Area Champions Pickup Games, whether known or unknown, foreseeable or unforeseeable.

2. Waiver & Release of Liability

I agree that my participation in Pickup Games is subject to the Bay Area Champions Foundation Assumption of Risk & Liability Waiver, which I have read and accepted.

To the fullest extent permitted by California law, I release and hold harmless Bay Area Champions Foundation, its directors, officers, staff, volunteers, hosts, agents, and affiliates from any claims, injuries, damages, or losses arising out of my participation in Pickup Games.

3. Eligibility & Participation

  • Pickup Games are open to registered players only
  • Participants must meet the age requirements specified for each event
  • Players must be physically capable of participating
  • Players participate at their own risk

Bay Area Champions does not assess individual skill level or fitness prior to participation.

4. Host-Led Community Pickup Model

Bay Area Champions Pickup Games operate using a host-led community model:

  • A designated player host assists with basic setup, coordination, and player check-in
  • The host receives a free spot in the game in exchange for these responsibilities
  • Hosts may bring basic equipment such as a ball or pinnies when available

This model helps keep pickup games accessible, affordable, and community-driven.

5. Code of Conduct

All participants agree to:

  • Play respectfully and safely
  • Avoid violent, dangerous, or abusive behavior
  • Follow organizer instructions and venue rules

Bay Area Champions enforces a zero-tolerance policy for violence. Any participant engaged in violent or unsafe conduct may be immediately removed and banned from future events without refund.

6. Attendance & Arrival

  • Players are expected to arrive on time
  • Late arrival may result in reduced playing time
  • Players who arrive significantly late may forfeit their spot at the discretion of the host or organizer

7. Payment, Capacity & Refund Policy

  • All Pickup Game registrations are prepaid
  • Capacity is limited and spots are first-come, first-served
  • All sales are final — no refunds
  • If a Pickup Game is cancelled due to weather, field issues, or unforeseen circumstances, Bay Area Champions may issue credits for a future Pickup Game at its discretion

8. Schedule Changes

Game dates, times, locations, and formats may change due to weather, permits, or operational needs. Participation is not guaranteed by listing alone.

9. Acknowledgment & Acceptance

By registering and completing payment for a Pickup Game, I confirm that:

  • I have read and understand these Pickup Soccer Waiver & Terms
  • I accept all risks associated with participation
  • I agree to be bound by the Bay Area Champions Assumption of Risk & Liability Waiver
  • I agree to follow all Pickup Game rules and policies
