Operations & League Management Intern

Organization:

Bay Area Champions Foundation is a San Jose–based nonprofit organization on a mission to create more playing opportunities for players in the community, through soccer leagues, tournaments, and events for adults while promoting health, discipline, and local partnerships. 

Role Overview:

The Operations & League Management Intern will support the planning and execution of adult soccer leagues, tournaments, and community events. This role is ideal for a student interested in sports management, event operations, or nonprofit leadership. The intern will report directly to the Founder & Director.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with league operations and game-day logistics
• Support team check-in and registration processes
• Help manage schedules, standings, and basic record keeping
• Communicate with team captains regarding updates and logistics
• Support field setup, coordination, and on-site problem solving
• Assist with administrative tasks related to league operations

Learning Outcomes:

Interns will gain hands-on experience in:

• Sports league and event operations
• Nonprofit organization management
• Communication with teams, volunteers, and partners
• Problem-solving in live event environments
• Organizational and leadership skills

Requirements: 

• Interest in sports, events, or nonprofit operations
• Strong communication and organization skills
• Availability for at least one weekday evening
• Reliable transportation to San Jose locations

Logistics:

• Internship Dates: March – May 
• Unpaid internship (eligible for academic credit)
• 5–6 hours per week
• In-person on event days + remote administrative support
  • In-person event will take place weekday nights 8-10 PM (final days to be confirmed, but we’re looking to start with Tuesday and Thursday nights) 
• Ideal majors: Sports Management, Kinesiology, Business, Recreation, Nonprofit Management
