General Rules for 9v9 Tuesday Men’s Leagues
– Team roster consist of 16 players maximum – Only rostered players are allowed to play
- During league games you can add a drop-in player (not in another team) for $10 – no drop-ins for Playoffs, only rostered players
- You can change the roster until you get 16 players, but once a player plays they cannot be changed from the roster
– 9 players on the field per side including the goalkeeper (8 field players + 1 goalkeeper)
– Minimum number of players to start the match is 5. If you don’t have enough eligible players to start the match 5 minutes after the start time, your team will forfeit. Playing with ineligible players will also lead to a forfeit.
-Forfeits will result in 3-0 loss for the team that forfeited
-Two 25 minute halves with 3 minute half-time break. No injury time and no overtime.
– League games will start at 8:05 and 9:05 on the dot. Playoff games will have to start at 8:00 and 9:00 to have time for penalty kicks if needed (or the halves will be shortened to 23 minutes to make sure the lights do not turn off).
– General Goalkeeper rules except no drop kicks once the goalie has picked up the ball, if a goalie does a drop kick it will be an indirect free kick for the other team
– Players must be wearing the same colored jerseys – Socks and shorts don’t have to match
– Long socks and Shin guards are optional but they are recommended
– No offside rule
– If the ball goes out of bounds through the sidelines we use throw-ins to restart play
– Notify the referee if you want to make a substitution and substitutions are only allowed when the ball is stopped not during gameplay, if you make a substitution without notifying the referee it will be a yellow card.
– The ball may travel forward or backward on the kick-off
– No slide tackles. Slide tackles can cause injuries. We all have to go to work the next day!
– Indirect free kicks and direct free kick may be awarded for fouls depending on the scenario
– Penalty kicks for fouls inside of the penalty area
– Yellow cards and red cards are given for disciplinary actions.
– For a yellow card: Players will sit out for 2 minutes or it they get scored on they can get back in
– Red card results in leaving the game, missing the next game, expulsion from the league, and/or a fine depending on the scenario in order to be able to play again
– Players must take off their earrings, watches, and any other jewelry
— Besides the specific rules above, everything else will be FIFA rules
– Games are played in the rain or sunshine! Games will only be canceled if the city says its dangerous to play outside and they close the fields (such as during a thunderstorm)
– Fighting will not be tolerated – any players of a team that gets into a fight will be asked to leave and will not be allowed to join future leagues
-Tie breaker for playoff spots: Goal difference (best), goals for (highest), goals against (lowest), head-to-head score, coin (if absolutely necessary)
– Top 4 teams make it to final playoff day: Tie breaker for playoff games (semi finals and finals) if tie – 3 penalty kicks each team
